Few things are more annoying than waiting on hold for a customer service agent. Fortunately, FastCustomer has remedied this frustrating ritual.

Instead of calling a company’s customer service number, anyone can call 855-DONT-HOLD and arrange for the company you want to speak with to return your call. You don’t need to create an account, remember passwords, wait for activation or pay membership fees.

Alternatively, smart phone users can access the FastCustomer system by using apps compatible with iPhone, Android, KindleFire, and Chrome.  Users of standard mobile phones can prompt call backs by texting a company’s name to 936-CALL-PLS.  In many cases, call backs from a designated company’s specific department (e.g. billing or technical support) can be arranged.

In most cases call backs are made within 10 minutes of the request, but users can review specific companies’ call back performance by visiting the FastCustomer site. If a company placing return calls misses its customer on its initial call back attempt, it will typically make multiple attempts to reach the customer.

FastCustomer reports that it has saved consumers some 1.2 million minutes of hold time. More than 100,000 people have used FastCustomer to reach the more than 3,000 companies listed on FastCustomer’s directory.

FastCustomer generates its revenue from the companies that facilitate their customer service via FastCustomer. FastCustomer may be able to monetize the enormous real-time customer service data—related to customers migrating to competitors, for example—that it generates.
